Hello everyone,

I have a Victus 15L desktop that will freeze or randomly restart on it's own. I have had a blue screen a few times (component conflict error) but usually it will just freeze or randomly restart. There is no common theme to when it freezes or restarts. It can be a few minutes after booting up, during the booting up, or even after gaming for a few hours and then sitting idle for a bit. All temperatures seem stable and normal. Event viewer lists only Kernel power errors.

I have done the following to try to track down the problem:
- Run windows and UEFI based diagnostic tests which passed.
- Done a clean uninstall of graphics drivers using the AMD utility and installation of newest drivers.
- Put in a GPU from another computer
- Pulled out a stick of RAM to see if one stick was bad. The problem occurs with either stick of RAM. That plus the memory test completing with no error leads me to believe the RAM is fine. I suppose both sticks could be bad.
- Blown out ports with canned air and reseated the RAM and the GPU.
- Done a thorough Windows 11 reset.
- Turned off automatic reboot. The machine has frozen or rebooted anyway without a blue screen displaying an error. I suppose there might be a dump file with information somewhere but I'm not sure how to locate it.

At this point I suspect the motherboard is bad, though there might be an outside chance that the PSU is failing. It's also possible I missed something. I've noticed no domed or oozing capacitors on the Motherboard. There have also not been any burning smells or grinding sounds from the PSU.

If anyone has any other ideas I'm willing to hear them.

Can someone walk me through the proper procedure for diagnosing a failing motherboard , or failing HP proprietary PSU? I have a multi meter to help do this.

HP's Victus is a series, what is the SKU to your HP Victus 15L?

You're advised to use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, Nvidia and AMD) in Safe Mode then manually installing the latest GPU driver meant for your platform in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Put in a GPU from another computer
What were you working with prior and what did you drop in after?

Did you check to see if the prebuilt has any BIOS updates pending?

Done a thorough Windows 11 reset.
You could've performed a clean install of the OS, after recreating your bootable USB installer and installing the OS in offline mode.

Does the prebuilt have warranty on it?

I did remove the drivers with the AMD Cleanup utility in safe more and reinstall as administrator . I'll do it with DDU shortly and see if it changes anything.

The prior was a Radeon RX 6600XT, the drop in was a Radeon RX550.

There were no pending or newer BIOS updates when I Checked

Noted. Do you suspect there is a problem with the drive or partition the reset was carried out from?

No, it's out of warranty.

As of 0106 Eastern Time I am unable to uninstall drivers using DDU and reinstall graphics drivers as the machine is too unstable even in safe mode to keep from shutting off or restarting.
