Right now i have been studying a pc hardware course.
i have some doubts abouts pc repairing techniques.
if anyone can help me iam grateful to you

(1) Is there any specific sign to tell that motherboard is dead or cpu is dead?
hard disk and pc case are directly connected to psu.so pc case fans and hard disk run without any issues even with the damage to cpu or motherboard.
then how to tell motherboard or cpu is the culprit?
dont say replace the motherboard and cpu with another system.
I have only one system with me.so i cant replace the parts.

(2) can i use 90 percent isopropyl alcohol on the following parts to clean pc?
Motherboard
Ram(top parts and gold plating parts)
Smps fan and inside of smps
ram slots and gpu slots
pc case fans

what is the difference between IPA and compressed air while cleaning the above pc parts?

3) how to tell ram module is working outside of pc (without ram tester)?

(4) does pc post card tester works if motherbooard is dead or cpu is dead?
iam asking this question because if motheboard is dead post card wont get enough power to work properly.
similarly if processor is dead then pc wont post.
then there is no use of post card.

anyone working pc technician can help me.pls?

1. Inspect for physical damage first.
Most MBs have some indicators for POST troubleshooting , lights or sound beeper , by which codes you can judge what may be wrong. If nothing works suspect PSU. Should always have at least one good PSU at hand for testing as well as a PSU tester. Also a compatible beeper or speaker.
  1. Yes, it's safe to clean all parts, have an assortment of soft paint brushes at hand.
  2. No way to know unless you have dedicated RAM tester or known good and compatible system to plug them in. Again only physical signs like damage or discoloration. Contacts could be cleaned by using clean printing paper soaked with alcohol or quality contact spray.
  3. post card testers are not very useful with newer systems.
