Hey there,

Thought I`d post here as Tom's Hardware and the forums around here are usually swarming with people who are quite up to date regarding hardware and software as well and they pretty much know what they are talking about :) .

So, I am planning on buying a CPU, Motherboard, Graphics Card and RAM.
I am a 3D Artist, working with programs like 3DSMax, Maya, Unreal Engine 4, ZBrush, Photoshop etc. My goal is to choose components that best serve my 3D work. This work is made up mostly of rendering calculations, working with scenes that handle a larger amount of texture data etc. I already have a pretty good SSD, so no need for that at the moment.
Also, I`d like to play games every now and then, BUT by no means on 4K resolution. 1080p and a bit higher is enough for me.

Another important thing to mention is that I will be purchasing these components in the UK, so I`m looking at the best prices from http://www.pcpartpicker.co.uk

My budget is: 900-950 GPB = 1,350 - 1,400 $.

Here is what I have cooked up so far:

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K, Haswell-E, 6 Core, LGA 2011-3

Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI PLUS, Intel X99, S 2011-3, DDR4

Videocard: Asus STRIX GTX970 DirectCU II OC 4GB (Maxwell)

MEMORY: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

Thanks very much!

Solution
don't forget that the 5820k doesn't come with a CPU cooler. So you'll need an aftermarket one.
with that said I would recommend the cm hyper 212 evo for a budget option, and the noctua dh-14 for a high performance one.
otherwise looks solid

Yes, good point. I am planning on buying the videocard first as I won't be able to buy all the components in one go, so will keep an eye out for the coolers you've mentioned in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply dasulman!

I did read the Anandtech analysis today, so it seems the GTX 970 has a slightly different spec than we initially knew. The tests show it's still a very solid card so I think I will stick to that. Might even buy the card tomorrow, so I`m getting anxious :) .

Hey guys, I`ve bought the ASUS 970 GTX and my problem at the moment is that my case isn't the best fit for this card = my entire new build. I really had to be creative with the cables and everything to fit my 3 hard drives in with this beast of a card.

Can I ask for some suggestions please regarding PC cases? I am looking for something around 70 dollars MAXIMUM. I`m not looking for a high end case, but something that has enough space to fit my new build in and has decent air flow (not going to go for water cooling at all) so I can properly work with this PC for the next 3 years.

Thanks very much!
