Question Components dead? Did my motherboard protect my CPU?

Recently my motherboard, the ASUS n13219 shorted, possibly or just stopped working, I’m afraid that if it shorted, it may have damaged my i7 4770, and I have no means to test my cpu, all my buddies only own am3. Please help!

EDIT:

Hold on a second. Did you actually put your i7 4770 in a socket 478 motherboard??????? How did an 4770 fit in an ASUS n13219???????????
