Even though i have purchased most of the parts i'm kinda wanting to post my build and see what people think about ti. It's mostly just gonna be a work computer. I'm own a cellphone and computer repair shop. The computer will not be for gaming but mostly for phone data recovery and some computer recovery. Light use but I had the budget for a nice build.

Motherboard:
ASRock Z97 Extreme4/3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU:
Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54460 Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600

CPU Cooler:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Case:

HDD Caddy:

Ram:

Boot Drive:
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

then i'm just gonna add some good hard drives internally. If you have any input for additional stuff let me know.

Do you have a GPU. (or two?) :) What about PSU, that's one of the most important parts.

Why did you get the great Z97 board with a locked CPU and apparently no GPUs?
That is a good cooler, but probably unnecessary in that build.

I would want a faster better boot drive.

You did not need to spend the money on a z97 board, and really did not need to spend the money on a upgraded air cooler

Not sure if 16gb of ram is even useful for you, and 2x8gb is more guaranteed to be stable over 4x4gb.

That super great deal you got on that v300, that's because the drive is a bait-and-switch pile of crap.
Kingston put one type of nram chip in it for the initial reviews and benchmarks, then right before holiday season they swaped the chips to asynchronous chips that get 1/3 the real world performance. Kingston of course knew that using this 1 specific benchmark using compression that they can still get the same read/write numbers and thus legally they can market it at the same drive and quote the same speed.

Enermax is not a beacon of quality either, your case looks ok, but not on my recommend list.

Very backwards to buy stuff and then ask if it is good. Could have saved you at least $40 and could have put $20 into an actually decent SSD drive.

I bought this SSD a long time ago just had it laying around from a dead computer I had. Plan on upgrading later.

I forgot to add a CPU to the list I was thinking about buying thins one but not sure how to calculate how many watts i need.

I have not purchased the CPU yet thats just one i was looking at I'd love your input on a good one for me below the price of the one i had picked out. I'm honestly not even sure what a GPU is used for so would love input on that also. Yes i'm getting a better SSD just had that one laying around.

The only parts I've purchased are the following:
Motherboard
Case
Hard drive Caddy
Blueray drive
and had the SSD laying around so feel free to critque the cpu, ram, cooler, psu and gpu if you want. Would also need to know good boot drive.

In that case you might have one of the V300s before they changed the chips firmware.

You can checkout the firmware (either checking it with software or physically looking at the drive).
The way the numbering scheme works is The v505A, v505B, v505C, v507, and v520 are all synchronous. The v506 and v521 are both asynchronous.

If you have the synchronous then you are fine.

Look what i replied to on the other posts and then critique again. Forgot to mention i had only purchased a few of the parts.

thank you so much. I'm also gonna check this SSD i have and see if it's the old or new version. I had already heard about the chip change.

The CPU is perfect for you, powerfull but not spending money on what you don't need. Price per performance the 4460 is a rockstar.

GPU is a Graphics Processing Unit, it is a video card. Years ago integrated graphics was not able to handle more then displaying windows onto a monitor. Nowdays it can handle low end games and even 1080p full uncompressed Blu-ray playback.

If you are not wanting to play mainstream games then there is not much need for a dedicated GPU.
The one other bennifit to GPU for non-games is people that do media creation. The popular software for photo/video editing, rendering and 3d modeling are coded to utilze the "Cuda cores" used in NVIDIA branded GPUs. Thus someone that does say heavy photshop work will have quicker rendering/editing of a photo having a NVIDIA brand GPU in their PC.

Since you do not have the memory, go for 2 x 8Gb rather than 4 x 4Gb. That's better all around. Since you have a Z97 board, you may be able to use faster memory for performance improvement.

This is not a gaming system, so a Corsair CX is OK. How mission-critical is this system, and how many hours each day will it be used?

You still don't need the CPU cooler, stock will do. It's something easy to upgrade later too. You can easily add a GPU later, especially if you can use CUDA in your work.

Ok I thought it was a good CPU But i'm open to other models that are persay unlocked but does it really matter? I'm also gonna be ripping my blueray and dvd's to make .mp4 files for my home theater to make things easy. IS this build ok for that? I'm also not really seeing a benefit for a GPU at this point i'll grab one later if i find a need for one.

ok I'm swapping memory Any suggestions on speed or your preference? Give me a link?

It will be idle 9am-6pm for sure but probbaly only be used about 6 hours a day total.

I'm cutting the CPU cooler and going with stock and ill add the GPU later if need be.

Pics folder

Thats a link to my SSD

I'm adding more pictures as we speak of all the writing on the board and chips so tell me if you see it.
