So I will be buying parts for a new build around next week. However, I am confused, I was on Newegg and there is this Accidental Replacement Plan. So my question is do the manufacturers provide a warranty for you when you purchase the product? For example, I am buying an EVGA GTX 970, will EVGA provide me a warranty? Does this apply to all of the components I buy?

Solution
Yes, different pieces of hardware have varying lengths in warranty.

Good RAM should have a lifetime warranty. CPUs should have 3+ year warranty. Motherboards should have 2+ year warranty. Hard drives usually 1+ year, longer for solid states. Graphics cards should have 3 years. Power supplies vary dramatically depending on brand... a cheapo one might have just a year, while a good one might have a 10 year warranty. I'd look for one that's got at least 3 years on it.

As you can see if you scroll to the bottom of the specifications tab, there is a 3 year warranty on the EVGA GTX 970.

Very informational, thank you very much for the reply. So if I will have no need to purchase Newegg's Accidental Replacement Plan?

Thank you for letting me know that you need to register. I did not know that! Thank you for the link, I will check it out.

As I understand it, when you order the replacement plan they give you a shipping label so that if the product is damage when you received it (i.e. it gets damaged in shipping) you can ship it back for a replacement without having to pay shipping. I could be mistaken as I don't shop at Newegg

Thank you for this information and your reply.

I think it's basically shipping insurance. They will cover a DOA normally, but if it arrives beat up or broken they might not because they don't see it as a manufacturer defect
