Possibly. Are you SURE the SATA drive died, and not just the SATA controller or ports on the motherboard?
USB ports and SATA ports both dying would SEEM to be, on the surface at least, more indicative of a faulty board than of those devices cumulatively.
Of course, there could be other hardware involved, such as a very weak power supply, bad driver update, corrupted Windows operating system, etc.
What are your FULL hardware specifications including all known model numbers for motherboard, CPU, memory kit, power supply, drives, etc. and how long have EACH of them been in service?
What have you ACTUALLY done to diagnose the problem so far? How did you determine that the SATA hard drive was faulty? Did you test it in a DIFFERENT machine, or only in the system it came out of?
