Computer Black screens when playing game but sound continues

Built the computer 2 weeks ago had no problems until last night when i was playing Diablo 3 when my computer screen went black and no display message popped up. during the black screen i was able to hear the game sounds and my voice chat program i was even able to talk but after 10-15 seconds i was not able to hear the voice chat program anymore but game sound was still there. i had to power off my computer to fix this and it didnt happen again for about 4 hours or so. after it happen the second time it started happening when i would start diablo to fix that i had the battle client close when i started the game. this fixed the start up of game but it started black screening again about 5-10 minutes into playing again. the problem happens in other games like counter strike. for the first 2 weeks i only played counter strike and started playing diablo over the weekend. in counter strike it take a little bit longer for the problem to happen

fixes i tried were installing older driver versions of my graphics card
changing the slot my card was in
changing wall socket my computer was in

i have narrowed it down to the gpu or power supply being the cause any ideas on a fix or do i need to rma the graphics card
