My computer is booting up and launching the OS but shuts down before I can get past the starting windows page. I thought it was a problem with my SSD so I did ran chkdsk /f on a different computer but it found no bad sectors.

Anyone one the cause of this?

Thanks, Kyle

I'd suggest to try a fresh install of Windows then, instead of the repair one.
This error can be resorted when you wipe out the partitions on the HDD and start with the OS installation from sctrach.

As we're talking about starting over fresh here, it'd be a good idea to:
- set the SSD as the boot drive in the UEFI/BIOS
- make sure that UEFI/BIOS and Secure Boot are enabled.
- reset the UEFI/BIOS to default values
- disconnect the other hard drives while installing Windows (this'll ensure that the entire boot sequence occurs on the SSD). You can reconnect them afterwards (as long as you leave the SSD first in the boot sequence)...
Hey there, Kyle!

Unfortunately a chkdsk command on the SSD wouldn't work, this is because it's a solid-state drive, not a mechanical one.
Was it working fine on your other computer?
I don't think the problem is with the SSD if it's working okay on other computers.
My suggestion would be to try resetting the BIOS: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
See if that will help. Though I think you should take the computer to a professional repair shop to test PSU. It's most likely the failed component.

Keep me posted! :)

The computer is very old, bought a while back as a pre built machine so i do not know the specs of it. On the psu is gives me the model number: cit-450 p4. this I googled just and the results are upgraded versions of what I have. I'm going to trying swapping the psu over for a newer one I bought last year.
