Computer Boots Into "Safe Mode"??

So I went to go play Metro 2033 off Steam. The game usually asks me if I wanna start in safe mode because "the last launch was unsuccessful" even though it was. I usually hit "No", but this time I had hit "Yes" by mistake. Not wanting that I alt tabbed out and went to restart the game but I noticed that my PC was now in "safe mode." But not really. The background was there but not too scale and the icons were large like in safemode. So I restarted my PC. But it booted wrong. When I logged in I had sound and my background was again off scale and the Task bar and icons were large as if in safe mode but I wasnt. I could access the web and play games.

Everything is scaled as if Im in safe mode. Nothing I do fixes it. Please help. Thanks

Boot into Safe Mode (F8) and do a System Restore - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7 - last known good configuration

Got it! Hadnt considered that my screen rez was set differently due to the games prompt! had to change it back!
