Hi, just asking around for build recommendations for a decent gaming pc with a ~$1200 budget, already got a 500gb SSD and 8gb DDR3 but may consider replacing, any suggestions?

DDR3 would limit your to a 4xxx series Intel CPU or an AMD FX CPU. Neither of those are top choices any more. Assume you will replace the RAM with a matched set of two DIMMs, either 4GB DIMMs or 8GB DIMMs.

Very powerful combo of i7-8700K and GTX1070Ti. It is good for 1080p gaming for longer period of time.
