Computer Cant detect hdmi

Hey guys im using a Geforce GTX 660 on 64 bit windows 8. When I connect the cable no device can be detected

Are you connecting the HDMI port from the Video card (not mobo) to the HDMI port to a TV/Monitor..

Is the monitor/TV on the right HDMI input?
