[SOLVED] Computer can't detect my headset mic

Whenever I plug my audio thingy into my desktop (on the motherboard or the case) if i plug it into the line out jack, i can hear but not talk. line in? It activates the microphone option in the sounds menu but the mic there doesn't work and i can't hear. mic in just does nothing. How can i get it so that i can hear & talk through my headset

I built my desktop a week and a half ago and just today got my monitor. It's Windows 10 and if it helps at all I have the b450 asus prime motherboard, ryzen 3, gigabyte rx560 gpu, 450bt psu, archer wifi card, phanteks eclipse case and patriot line ram (2x4 GB, 1666 MHz)

I take it your headset/mic has a single plug. Then you needs something like This Headset adapter
