First the specs, since i know you will

  • all ask for it

    MOBO: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 (NB: RD9x0 rev 02 SB: SB910/950 rev 40)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955BE (currently not overclocked)
    Cooler: CoolMaster V8
    GPU: AMD Radeon 7770
    RAM: GSKILL PC3-10600 16GB
PSU: OKIA 600w (has never failed me)
    HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200rpm SATA-600
OS: Win 8.1 Pro 32 bit

So the problem is often random, but I have been able to recreate it IMMEDIATELY in game... 5 times in a row at the exact same moment... So i get out of this cave, and i press M (brings up the map) CRASH!!! not to desktop, complete shut down. I restart (had to switch PSU off then on in order to be able to). Computer reboots without message that the system shut down unexpectedly (odd, i didn't expect it!). I load the game, last auto save, which was right as i left the cave... press M again BAM! Complete shut down... I did this 5 times in less than 20 minutes... Not once did it give me an error on startup message... not one thing in event viewer other than noting it shut down... just a typical ID 33 with no details, not even when searched for online. So i decided to play without pressing M... played along just fine for quite some time. after a while, i finished another dungeon, for the dragon claw, and want to fast travel back... Press M... doesn't crash... select my destination, click fast travel BAM!!! Crashes again... I can essentially play the game without using the map... but if you have played this game... its impossible to play without the map LOL... any ideas?

Also, i can and do play many other games all on Ultra or High graphics settings like Civ 5 or Farming Simulator 2015, or Tales from the Borderland... and they never crash on me.

All drivers up to date, fairly recent OS install on fresh HDD, so not alot of crap laying around on the computer in regards to registry.

Any Ideas would be helpful... I'm about to go take it outside and blow it out. Doubt dust would cause it to happen, but you never know. Its just weird that this happens on an older game, and only when trying to use the map... game is fully up to date, and i only have 2 mods on it.

    thanks guys.

+12v Rail is running between 11.9 and 11.3 maxing at 12.19 CPU max temp at 44C everything seems to be find on the heat side. So is my 12 volt rail dropping too low?

did a clean install, still crashed about 20 minutes in... so next im going to get a tier 2 PSU from the list posted above for $99 before rebate ($79 after) and its a platinum 80 rating and its 650 watts, but in a review i read, it peaked at 776 watts before shutting down... so pretty legit.
