So the past several months, when i wake my computer up, from putting it to sleep, it turns off my internet/WIFI but on my phone it will say I'm still connected to internet... But, when I call my internet provider to check if they see anything unusual, but they tell me everything looks fine. Which, leaves me to believe its my computer. How i fix it, is either 1. unplugging my Ethernet cable form the back of my tower for a little bit. 2. restart my computer or 3. restart my modem. Also sometimes the issue will resolve itself... So I have no idea what this could be. I did talk to a guy from my internet provider, who told me it might be my motherboard drivers? I hope I've given enough info to help fix this problem I am having. Any help would be great.

What exactly do you mean it turns off your internet/WIFI? Do you mean that EVERY device on your ISP loses its connection, or only that the PC loses its connection? The comment about your phone could mean either - is it connected via your 4g data or via the WiFi?

If it's only your computer, and it's only after waking from sleep mode, that's pretty localized. If it's everything, it's pretty general.

Well here's the thing, i called my ISP when it happened last night, and they told me that everything leading to my modem works fine or looks good. But after it gets to my modem that's where things go dark for them and they can't see it... So the guy I was talking to, said, it could be my motherboard drivers are corrupted. And today when I woke my computer up from it being asleep all night I unplugged my ethernet cable from the back of my computer and when it woke up everything worked fine I didn't loose internet connection. Also as i just stated I am directly connected to my modem.

I'm particularly asking if anything besides the computer receives internet service through that modem. Is the phone on your WiFi, do you have another computer, a notebook computer on WiFi, a smart TV that gets Netflix or some such service? I'm trying to tell between a case where the computer can't talk to the network but the network is present and working, and a case where the computer breaks the network. I don't know how to tell unless there are other devices on it. You mentioned your phone, but if it's on your 4g connection instead of WiFi then that's irrelevant.

Do you see the distinction I'm trying to make? One thing drops off the network rather than the network gets broken?

I once had a video card that came out of sleep mode badly. The rest of the PC worked fine; I could use a remote control application on it, but the video stayed dead. I had to put in a different video card. The original one should have worked find, but it wouldn't come out of sleep mode.

Sorry I understand now. Yes I have my computer hooked up to the modem my xbox one is hooked up to it, 2 phones hooked up to it via wifi and 1 laptop hooked up to it via wifi.

Easy Solution: Don't let it go to sleep. Either shut it down or just power off the monitor.
More Detailed Solution: Check to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard that SPECIFICALLY STATES it resolves the issue of LAN connectivity after sleep. If there is no BIOS update that specifically resolves that issue, then DO NOT attempt to update the BIOS.

^Follow the advice given above.
Do any of those (X Box, phones, or laptop) lose the WiFi connection when you wake the desktop computer? If no then the issue is probably the computer and how it responds to being woken up. If that is the case then follow the directions given by Wolfshadw.

Yes, they all lose WiFi. And my computer does not have wireless capability, so I am directly connected to my modem. It actually hasn't happened to me the past couple of days... I think it's because I unplug my ethernet cable from the back of my computer than wake my computer up after it boots up for about 20 seconds I plug my ethernet cable back in and everything works fine. And I did just buy a new ethernet cable probably a couple months ago so I doubt it would be the cord?
