I was playing a game and alt tabbing between Youtube, then all of a sudden my computer shuts down. The shut down happened 5 times before, 3 due to overheating, and this time and last time, complete shut down but it wasn't overheated. Before, the computer turned on after a few hours. It's been Two days since it shut down this time. nothing works at all. i tried unplugging, plugging into different sockets to no avail. could it be my PSU? this pc is a recently built PC, built in august 2015.

intel i5-4690k 3.5 ghz
nvidia gtx 750 driver
8gb ram
750w psu
msi mobo

Hey mate,

What's your model of PSU? If you have a lower quality one (some power supplies from companies with other great products can still drive a poor quality PSU).

Some of them can fail, especially if you have a sudden shift in voltage.

I'm sorry I'm not quoting your comments, I'm new to this site, being on mobile doesn't help. I'm just trying to figure out how your processor is overheating at all. My 4690k runs at 4GHz, and my $20 after market cooler keeps it around 20-30C. It shouldn't be your PSU, they should be little warm. Is your CPU currently overclocked?
