Question Computer Crashes Once After Loading Up Games (Approx 5 min)

Sep 2, 2020
I have lived with this issue for awhile, and finally would like some help finding a solution.

My computer works fine and never crashes until I load up a game, which I can usually play for 5-10 minutes before it crashes the computer and auto-restarts. After it has crashed once, I can load up that same game and play it as long as I want and it won't crash again. This problem occurs with any game I load up.

OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64 bit)
CPU: Intel i7-5820k 6 core @ 3.3Ghz (not overclocked)
Memory: 32gb ddr4
Motherboard: MSI x99a gaming pro carbon
GPU: 2070 super
PSU: Corsair HX1000i
HDD: have a 512 m2, 1tb ssd, 2tb hdd

Please note, I have had this problem for awhile. I initially thought it was a problem with a loose power supply cable, or even the ramp-up; but I have replaced my GPU, ram, and even power supply cables, and the problem persists.

All NVIDIA drivers are up to date, as well as windows.

CPU temps are stable around 35-45 at idle, and maybe 45-52 under load, so no concerns there. GPU temps don't seem to be crazy high either.

Anyone know where to start?
