OK I have read a million threads like mine, but I find no one with the same exact issue so here goes...

RIG:
GIGABYTE 990-FXA-UDE motherboard
AMD FX 8350 8 core CPU
Rosewill Photon 750w gold certified PSU
Zotac gtx 970 omega core GPU
Cooler matter hyper 212 evo heatsink with two CPU fans in a push pull config
Windows 8.1 pro

I've had this PC for 3 or 4 months with not a single issue even with hours on hours of game play. Just a couple of days ago I had a problem where I was watching Hulu for an hour and the computer just shut off. I went to sleep and then to work the next day and that night turned it back on and no problem for 3 hours or more than a random shut down again.
The next day I opened it up checked to make sure my heat sink was seated fine and all plugs (CPU fan, CPU power, mb power, etc) were all connected fully. I plugged it into an outlet in the kitchen and powered it on it started up fine. So I ran prime 95 and core temp for 30 min temps were around 35 degrees celcius so I shut it down and quickly booted into bios and compared temp there. Temp in bios was obviously lower than core temp since it had time to cool but was close enough to assume core temp was reading temps properly.
Powered back up and ran prime and core temp for 2 hours and temp never exceeded 38 degrees Celsius... So I concluded that it wasn't caused by a over heating issue. I wrote it off as a failing power outlet in the bedroom since we have one or two throughout the house I put it back in the room and plugged it into the surge protector and into a different outlet.. No problems all night.. Literally all night.
Yesterday I turn it on before work to do some light school work on the Cisco website with no issues for a couple hours turn it off and go to work. Come home turn it on and within 15 min the screen goes into power save mode claiming that it's not receiving a signal then 1-2 min later the computer shuts down and won't turn on.
I unplugged it all night and turn it on today in kitchen and start to run both my desktop bios monitor (came pre loaded with motherboard) program and core temp along with prime. I notice temps ate the same with both programs and they are at about 38 degrees Celsius, but in the desktop bios monitor program there is an arrow above 40 degrees Celsius pointing to the 40. Before I can do anything it shuts down again. So assuming that somehow my bios has been set to emergency shut down if CPU reaches 40 (way to low for that) I decided to turn off the computer and unplug and place a jumper on the CMOS clear pins (since I can't keep the PC on long enough to do it in the bios).
Now when I leave it unplugged for a while and then it on the monitor says it's not receiving input but the computer is running and fans are spinning at full speed.
Anyone with an EDUCATED guess please tell me your thoughts. Is it most likely the video card (my MOBO doesn't have integrated graphics so I can't just pull out the GPU and start it), or possibly a PSU failing? This issue I wouldn't think would be the CPU since as I said I never saw a temp above 40 celcius. It couldn't be a bad driver could it? I would think you could at least boot into safe mode if it were. I'm stumped and don't have a power supply tester or another GPU laying around.
I know this is a long winded post. Just wanted to be as detailed as possible so please only helpful responses. I use this computer for college as well as having so it's pretty crucial I get to the bottom of this.

Thanks,
Nate D

No, no upgrades to any components since it was built. The only upgrades have been in the form if driver updates from nvidia and windows updates.
And yes I have checked to make sure all connectors of every kind are fastened properly.
I was suspecting the the video card or PSU... I'm kind of leaning toward the video card though because it powered up today but the monitor was saying that it wasn't receiving any signal.
My friend is bringing a video card over that works so I can test it tonight.
There didn't appear to be any dust around the PSU though.

Thanks

Okay... So this is really strange but I am pretty sure that the problem is resolved...

That night I borrowed an older working nvidia graphics card from my friend.. Placed it in my computer same problem computer powered on lights came on but no display took it back out and was going to give up until I could get a power supply tester... But decided what the heck I'll pull the battery out of the CMOS just for kicks and giggles even though I already used a jumper on the CMOS clear pins earlier that day.... Left battery out for about 20 or 30 min put it back put my video card back in fired it up and was presented with a screen to load optimized default bios settings did this and now all has been well since last night at 11pm

I watched Hulu for 2 hours, played far cry 4 for 30 min, downloaded a bunch of stuff and left computer on all night while downloading, turned it off for a few hours, turned back on did school work and then left it running for about 10 hours no problems...
I guess something for screwed up or corrupt in my bios?? Idk all I know is everything seems good for now.
