Computer crashing and artifacting with the new Nvidia Drivers

Hello,
I have a HP HDX laptop its roughly 3-4 years old with an 8800m GTS. Everything has been working great and been playing all sorts of game for a very long time. Only recently when i bought BF3 i required me to update to the NEW Nvidia driver 285.62. When i install this driver, my computer starts crashing and artifacting like crazy. I am forced to uninstall this driver IMMEDIATLY! Once i roll back to my previous driver everything is perfect again......i have no clue from this point. Please help me figure this out!

Windows XP? Vista 32? Vista 64? Windows 7 32? Windows 7 64? Did you download the right one??



Sounds like you already figured it out, use the old driver, problem solved.....

Did you double check to make sure you did not install the desktop version. If you download from sites other than the Nvidia Geforce site they don't always mention the difference.

I have windows 7 64 and i did make sure it was the driver for 8800m for mobile version and windows.

The game will not allow any driver except the 285.62 and the beta 285.58 to run the game. If you attempt to load the game it says "You must update to the current drivers".

I know my laptop is old and running the BARE minimum specs to support BF3, but the new drivers should not crash and artifact my computer while just surfing the internet.

I just reinstalled 285.58 for the 2nd time......again it locked up and artifact'd twice. On the third restart it hasnt done it again.....WEIRD. Now im playing BF3 on the beta 285.58, but the newest 285.62 is still bugged for my system. Well thx i havent a clue at why its working now and not then????

Sometimes a re-boot is needed after installing drivers.

I have exacty the same computer and graphics card as you and I have exactly the same problem.

The computer crashes with the new driver for Nvidia and then I have to roll back to drivers fro 2009 :O
