Hi,
My computer, built 4 years ago, suddenly stopped booting past the bios/logo screen. That is, the screen goes blank right where it should transition to the "windows" loading screen. The computer stays on but is not sending anything to the monitor:

Occasionally I get farther than this, Windows will boot all the way. But after a few minutes the monitor will go blank again.
I can boot into the BIOS or Windows recovery mode from a USB stick (https://photos.app.goo.gl/HdzPp3Uub79YMdSS6), but I can't find anything useful to do there.

It seems like some kind of hardware failure, but I'm not sure where. How can I troubleshoot?

Specs:
Ryzen 1500x
16GB ddr4
GTX 1060
PSU: VS600 (1 year old)

TIA,
Gabe

Your GTX 1060 is probably giving up the ghost but RAM may also have a problem Both need some checking.

Thanks. Swapping in a known-good GPU (and power supply b/c I regret buying the VS600 and don't trust it) got me slightly farther: a "Critical process died" BSOD.

My hypothesis is that all the hard-reboots I've been doing have corrupted some Windows file. I'll try to reinstall windows and report back.

So I reinstalled windows with the known-good GPU, replaced the power supply (which I wanted to do anyway), swapped back in the old GPU and... it still works.

It could be temporary; if the same problem comes back I'll replace the GPU.
