Computer doesn't detect ethernet cable

few days ago I brought an ethernet cable, after its connected to my pc, the network sharing center only show it connected to a wireless connection but not the local area connection(ethernet) . when I go into ‘change adapter settings" it shows that the local area connection has connected to an ethernet cable but it have no ipv4 and v6 connectivity, can someone teach me how to get my pc working on ethernet?

did you disconnect from your wireless network(click on the wireless symbol in the taskbar and then click disconnect)? most computers will not connect over a wireless and wire connection at the same time?
