Windows 10. I check my device manager and I have my ASUS DVD drivers, but my disk drive still randomly doesn't recognize disks. For example one of my bluray DVDs will sometimes be recognized but another bluray disk I own will never be recognized, as if I don't have a disk inside.

Solution
Agree swapping DVD drive is cheap and easy. Look for videos on youtube. DVD-RW drives are $20-$30. 4 screws hold them in. Two cables (power and sata signal) plug into the back.

Could just be dust inside the drive. If you have compressed air, blow it out. No point buying a $10 cleaning disk with brushes when a new drive is $20-$30.

good luck.
