Hey guys I am new here on this forum. Just wanted to know what would be the best computer rig for video editing now and days. My old PC is done for.

$1200-$1400 budget?

No 4K just mainly 720P and sometimes 1280 for video. Simple animation done in after effects. Use a lot of video storage. Probably a TB that always needs access.

I work for an organization so the boss probably wants a Dell of something with warranty.

Would a self built machine save a lot of $$? I do have 2 brand new WD black TB HDD. There seems like an overwhelming amount of options available. Not sure what is best (not up to date on hardware).

Any ideas that might help? Greatly appreciated

Thanks

You are not asking for anything special so yeah... there are a lot of options out there for you to choose from. I would suggest the building a machine yourself. The B150 / H170 chipset with four memory slots (for an upgrade later), an i7-6700, 16GB memory and and SSD would do very nicely. Being a small business, I would imaging a small SSD will do just fine, then long term storage on a server or other redundant storage setup.
