Hello fellas !

I have recently bought a G.Skill AEGIS DDR3 1600MHz 2X8 Ram kit.
I also have on my computer a kit of 2 Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 2X4 Ram kit.

I am lately been playing Star Citizen and that game is a ram hungry piece of ****, and I figured I need more ram for it to stutter less, since I have a Gigabyte G1 GTX980.

Anyway, after playing for like 20 mins or so of star citizen, the computer freezes and I have to restart it (CTRL ALT DEL doesn't even respond). At the shop they told me this might happen and that I'll need to declock my CPU or something.

My specs are :
ASUS P67 Sabertooth
Intel Core i5 2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
Gigabyte G1 GTX980

I'd much appreciate any help and hopefully you can help me find a way to use the whole 24 gigas..

Thanks in advance,
Stav.

P.S.
I'm not sure as to how to include a CPU-Z log with the current configuration of ram which is only the GSkill 16gb kit (since I can't know when they computer will freeze again).

Solution
Start with the 2x8GB set and install in slots 1-3, enable XMP, raise the DRAM voltage to 1.6, save, exit shutdown, add the 2x4GB set and give it a try - if no joy, look in the BIOS for VCCIO, CPUVTT or DDRVTT and raise to 1.14 - if none of those available this may be one where they included the MC voltage into the VCCSA (system Agent Voltage) if so set it to the 1.14
Sabertooth P67 BIOS 3602
1.Improve compatibility with Windows 8 OS.
2.Improve system stability.
3.Enhance compatibility with some USB devices.
4. Fixed Nvidia GTX 680 hang when runing with UEFI driver.
5.Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

make sure you have the newest bios thta has the newest cpu and ram code. look at the install is the old ram in slots a0 and b0 the two main slots and the two new ram is slots a1 and b1 or did they just mix and matched them at the store. also look at the ram stick make sure both have the same number of chips on them. if not you can get a timmng error. most time old ram is 8 chips and newer ram is 16 chips. look at the ram eprom speed with cpu z. see if there the same 9-9-9-9-9 at 1.5v if there not the same speed and voltage your going to have issues. in the ai tunner you can try and bump the dram voltage up see if that makes the ram stable.

So, I updated my BIOS to the latest version, also updated graphics card driver.
I installed the sticks personally, tried putting the old ones in the a0 b0 and new one at a1 b1 and vice versa.. nothing changed. comp even froze while playing DOTA. now I'm back to the 8x2 kit without the old 4x2 kit and waiting to see what will happen..

Thank you very much.
