I have a new fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit. I also bought a new MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming edition graphics card. I go through installing drivers for my motherboard, downloading windows updates, and my computer is fine through all those restarts. After i instal the MSI graphics card drivers from the disk, within a minute or two after being on the desktop following the restart, my computer freezes. The screen stays on, everything stays on the screen, but it is completely frozen, and i have to restart, for the same thing to happen again. I have installed windows on a Samsung SSD, and have reinstalled windows twice with the same issue after installing the MSI drivers. Any ideas on what could be wrong? The specs in CPU-Z in my signature are correct, other than my CPU is currently running at 3.6Ghz.

UPDATE:
Thought it was graphics card, bought new graphics card, ASUS this time, and freezing continues, never at a consistent point. Mem test comes back 100% pass. Computer will not boot into safe mode, shows screen listing the things it is loading, then stops and after a few minutes reboots.

I reset cmos then started up computer and my screen kept flashing and popup says display driver crashed and recovered. Icons and other things were blank as well. I'm reinstalling windows again now.

Sorry, I should have seen that in your CPU-Z data. The GPU would need to be tested on a different system to confirm whether it's the GPU or mobo.

Also, even though your PSU is new, can you switch it out with another, just to be sure. The Corsair CX line isn't the best, so there's a small chance it's causing issues. The only other thought is a driver issue, but if you have the latest from MSI, and it's a clean Windows install, I can't imagine how this can be.

I put in my old graphics card and was able to run prime 95 and other stress testing software with no freezing. Computer ran for 45+ minutes. Put in new graphics card and couldn't even get the drivers installed before it froze, repeated multiple times, 3 restarts, froze each time. I'm going to return the card to amazon and stop by micro Center and pick up an ASUS directcu 290 OC tomorrow, unless anyone has any other solutions.

I just picked up the Asus directcu II 290 OC, and after having the computer running for about 2 minutes, it froze. So I guess it's not the graphics card, and now I'm more frustrated. Anyone have any other ideas?
