Computer freezes after installing R9 290x

Hello.
I recently bought a MSI Radeon R9 290x.
Since I installed it I have found that my computer regularly freezes, leaving me unable to move the cursor but the screen still stays on. Why is this happening?
Here are my PC Specs if you need to know:
-650w PSU
-R9 290x GPU
-FX 8320 CPU
-M5A99X Evo R2.0 Motherboard

You're getting closer to the answer. Now the model of the Cooler Master PSU.
The reason it is important, is because some models are better quality than others. Poor quality models can be the cause of many issues like you have.

In the meantime check your memory with memtest. Download the .ISO file and use it to burn a bootable CD. Boot to the CD and let it run for at least one full pass on each stick of RAM individually placed in the first slot your MB manual recommends for using a single stick.
