Hi,

My friend brought me a computer to fix. The problem is that he has 2 drives ssd and hdd... HDD is WD Black 1tb 7200rpm and when I run something more demanding like a game from the hdd it functions normally and after a few minutes computer freezes - no bsod no black screen nothing... Then i have to restart it...

Things I have tried:

Another sata port...
CHKDSK
VIrus scan
Checked for overheating(all temps are normal under full load)
Full format(Although I have first made a copy of few folders and after format I moved them back intact)

Thanks in Advance!

Hi, thank you for your response. This only hapoens with WD drive. I am going to tell you the results in a few days. Again...
Hey there, klemenko1v1.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. Does this happen only with the WD Black drive? I'd recommend that you backup any important data which you might have on that HDD (including the folders which you've moved back to it), just to be on the safe side. After that go ahead and download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostics) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see if anything out of the ordinary pops-up. Here's how to do that: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Please let me know how everything goes.

Hi, thank you for your response. This only hapoens with WD drive. I am going to tell you the results in a few days. Again thank you...

Bad blocks were found... The thing is in the past you could manually mark bad blocks..now the chip on the hdd itself replaces badblocks with good ones from reserve pool - the pool has been used up on my side... I managed to get all the data copied and now i am going to buy a new HDD...

If you find a similar problem COPY YOUR DATA IMMEDIATELY AND REPLACE THE HDD...
