Computer freezes during power save mode?

I wasn't sure of the best subforum for this. I have this issue where my computer may freeze during power-save mode. As in, the screen will go black (entering power save mode, although this is not sleep mode - the computer is still on) and then at some point it will freeze and I am unable to bring it out of power-save (the black screen). Spamming my keyboard and moving my mouse does nothing, the only fix is to force my computer to shut down. I have a keyboard that shows clock, CPU and RAM usage and during this freeze none of them are changing during the freeze. It happened to me last night as I left my computer on overnight to download FarCry 3.

Does anyone have any idea as to the issue, or how I could diagnose this better?

Solution
Try turn off the hard disk settings
Control Panel > Power Options > click "Change plan settings" on current plan > Change advanced power settings > Expand Hard disk > Turn off hard disk after: Never
check with USB settings in this plan if you're using USB keyboard/mouse
Some user from this "source" setup a screen saver seems to fix the issue.
