So I have have been playing Arma 2 and Arc survival recently and every 5 or 10 minutes when I encounter something that might stress my computer such as getting attacked etc, my computer freezes for 15-30 seconds. I have updated my graphics drivers but thats about it.

Gtx 960
corsair 600m psu
8 gb ram
I average a smooth 30-40 fps on these games at medium to high res. Is it just that my pc is not beefy enough or am I doing something wrong?
