So it seems it has happened twice now. I will be working on my computer and when I plug in my Iphone 5s, it freezes and there is nothing I can do to get it to respond. After a hard shutdown or restart, it will not reboot. It will just load to the boot screen where it shows the cpu and ram speed and stop.

The only way I can get it to respond is to unplug the power and reset the cmos. I'm not sure if it is the unplugging or resetting the cmos that is letting me boot again.

I am thinking that maybe something is starting to go out, but not sure what part is the issue. Thanks for your help

Solution

A USB port surge can cause a lock up like this, try a different USB cable and try a different USB port.
