Computer freezes with 3tb harddrive installed

So I added another hard drive to my computer that I've had for a year and a half and it was working perfectly for a couple days after I formatted the drive, copied my steam folder over to it, and started downloading the rest of the games in my library. Then today it's off, I'm assuming because Windows decided it was going to restart to install updates (OT I really wish linux was a better gaming platform) I turn it on and it gets stuck at the boot screen and is non responsive. I power it down, unplug power, open the case, and unplug and replug all the Sata connectors. Reboot same thing happens, repeat just to make sure and it happens again. Since the only thing that's changed is the new storage drive, I unplug it, the computer boots up just fine. At this point I think maybe it's the power supply so I plug only the power connector in to the HDD and again it boots just fine. So I unplug the other storage drive and plug in the new drive in its place and it fails to boot again. Any idea what would cause this to happen?
Tl : DR
Computer freezes at boot screen only when the 3tb hard drive is installed, ideas.

If you tried to boot from the 3tb drive then nothing should've happened because there was no OS on it.

When they were both plugged in you may not have gotten a boot because your boot priorities were messed up. When starting the computer open the bios and change them making sure your primary drive is first.

I can't get into the BIOS when the 3TB drive is installed it just freezes at the boot screen, I tried booting from a USB stick, which I have set to override the boot order and automatically boot into it instead, and with either or both of the other drives it works but when I add the 3TB drive it freezes at the boot screen non responsive.
Edit to clarify: I have 3 hdd total, 2 500gb drives and one 3TB drive, it freezes at the boot screen whenever the 3TB drive is connected.

Do you have a hard drive dock or another pc you could use ? To get to my point, I would say you should format the drive and put it back in your pc and re partition it. If it still doesn't work that drive may be dead.

I got it functioning again, I have it in a usb 3.0 enclosure, but I can only turn it on after I boot up, otherwise if its left on when I turn on the computer it freezes like before. I'm not exactly sure whats going on, but i have all my games installed and it's not noticeably slower so I'm going to call it good enough.
