Computer freezing and Unfreezing at random periods during the day.

HI, im kinda new to computer hardware, but a couple of days ago my computer started to randomly freeze while surfing the web or playing a game and it will then unfreeze itself a couple of minutes later. When its frozen there is a really annoying sound loop. Ive checked all the temps and they all seem fine, so i dont think thats a problem. Although, ive been reading other forums that have pointed the finger at my hard drive. If i had to replace my hard drive some info on that would also be greatly appreciated.

I would have to say most likely hdd related or maybe even memory. does it do it under load? If it does that could mean psu as well. Also have you scanned your computer recently for fragmentation or viruses? so many things could cause this

There could also be conflicting programs causing this. You may want to go to the control panel and "programs" and look through it to see if there are any programs you don't recognize, then remove them and reboot. Also check temps all around, reseat RAM and the video card
