Computer Freezing/Blue screen

So for the past 2 months now my computer has had random crashes and blue screens and I can't for the life of me determine what it is so If anyone could help would be appreciated.
Things I have tried
- reinstalling windows on 2 different ssds
- tried using on board graphics rather than using my main gpu and this made it worse
- checking ram sticks individually
- temperatures are all normal

NOTE: after reinstalling windows it has made it worse. No blue screens now just screen freezing but background tasks are still running and I can move my mouse.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it, my specs are.

I7 4790k
GTX 970
Corsair RM850 power supply
Gigabyte gaming 7 motherboard
Rip jaws 2x8gb ram
Samsung evo850 ssd
Windows 10

UPDATE: Haven't been able to test my motherboard or cpu yet but Ive just tried running it in safemode and it hasn't blue screened or frozen

so if you don't crash in the safe mode the problem is the OS

I've reinstalled windows a bunch of times with different bootable USB's. Surely it's gotta be something else?

Disabling onboard graphics through my BIOS seems to have fixed my problem, cant understand why that would effect my pc though when my Graphics card is plugged in?
