[SOLVED] Computer freezing during 15 minutes of WoW. Please help.

Hey guys,

Having some major problems with WoW recently. I can’t seem to stay connected for more than 15-20 minutes without my computer carking it and freezing. I have no idea what the issue is, I assume that it is the GPU temp because it’s reaching 90+ degrees Celsius but have no idea why the temperature is what it is.

When I’m playing, the game runs a smooth 110-144hz and has no problems at all. Then suddenly, it just freezes.

The worst part is, I have tried to change the graphics to 1 and still encounter the exact same issue. Turned addons off. Changed direct x to 11. Reinstalled. Repaired. Nada. Also use AMD Radeon ‘global graphics’ esports mode. My Graphics card driver is up the date.

Below I will outline my PC specs and a summary of what I’ve tried to no avail and a couple of images relating to the performance metrics while playing WoW prior the the freezing after 15 mins.

-------------------------------------------------

Things tried –
Graphics @ 1
DX 11
Addons off
Reinstall
Repair WoW files
Made sure graphics driver was up to date

Pc specs -
CPU intel core i5 6600k
GPU AMD Radeon R9 390
Motherboard Gigabyte – z170xp-SLI
Ram 16GB

If it is overheating, how do I find the cause? Possibility of it being the tower?

If any other information needs to be posted, please let me know,
Thank you boys in advance.

94C is way too hot. You should carefully remove the GPU heatsink and repaste the GPU

Hey fellas,

thank you for the responses. Sorry for the slightly late reply, work has been a pain and is riding me hard.

94c?
make and model of the psu?

Corsair RM650i

Only in WOW ? Do you have an ssd ? I know silly question but that's a requirement.

What is your case and what are the cpu temps during gaming and idle ?

I run Total War: Warhammer 2 on the highest graphics (rather than WoW on 1) and it runs at similar temps but rarely shuts down (but it does, just very rarely). If I lower the graphics, it's fine. So, if I run it @ ultra, it still occurs.

I do have an SSD, it's a Samsung 850 evo 250gb.

My PC case is a Thermaltake Chaser A31 (https://www.thermaltake.com/chaser-a31.html), when I check the inside of the case, only now do I realize quite how small it is. Everything seems a bit congested. Though, not sure if that is enough to warrant those temps.

The CPU temps were taken from Core Temp and HWMonitor.

Just a note as I’m not sure if it matters, I took the WoW temps after only about 2-3 minutes in-game just in-case of another system freeze.

Thanks mate, I will do this if I can’t find a solution soon.

Upgrade your case cooling with 2x Noctua A12x25 PWM fans for front intake and one for rear exhaust.
