I did a clean install of xp home edition. Everything
worked well for a short time. Now, the computer freezes
when we try to play music in windows media player or real
player, when norton tries to scan. I had an issue with
the cdrom and cdburner and had to correct code 41 error.
That's resolved now. But, I keep running into the freeze
problem. I'm not sure what to do next. Any help you can
give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Becky

Check the Event Viewer to see if an error is getting logged at the time
the freeze occurs.

Use msconfig.exe to disable the Startup programs, reboot, and see if the
freezing still occurs. If not, reenable each program one at a time to
do a reboot and see when the problem reappears. When it does, the last
reenabled startup program is the culprit. If using msconfig to disable
all startup programs doesn't get rid of the freezing then next to check
are the NT services.

However, it could be a problem with drivers. Make sure you have
downloaded and installed the latest non-beta drivers for your
motherboard chipset, video, audio, mouse, etc.
