So.. once in a while when playing battlefield or watching a movie, my monitor will turn black and a constant buzz noise will sound through my speakers or headphones as it goes into "Power Saver Mode". As far as I can tell this could be from a bad DVI cable, a problem with my graphics card, or a few other things. All my fans and case lights stay on but the keyboard is unresponsive and the only way to fix it is to power down the machine and turn it back on. I built my computer last June and the issue started probably 10 months after. I really doubt it is the cable so that makes me suspect the GPU. Whatt should I try/If it turns out to be the GPU, how should I go about RMAing it..

Thanks guys

Mobo: GA-Z68X Gigabyte
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 670
RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance
Monitor: DELL U2410, 24 inch VIS UltraSharp
PSU: Corsair AX850 Gold

Update: i opened my case as it happened again and the fan on my gpu stops spinning when this happens.

EDIT:

Problem Solved: I switched my card to the other PCS Slot and everything worked fine. Updated my MOBO's BIOS and put the card back in the original slot and it runs fine now.

Is it power save mode or your machine locking up? You said a buzz noise? A friend had a similar problem where randomly his machine would freeze, his monitor would go black an what sounded like a super fast loup tone of whatever was playing at the time. We traced that back to a bad ram stick.

The monitor says "Entering Power Saver Mode" and then goes black and makes the noise. But if I press caps lock on the keyboard the little green light doesn't turn on on the keyboard. So I have to power down the machine and turn it back on.

And the buzzing noise is exactly as you described, the tone of whatever was playing at the time
