My PC was just running fine until last two weeks when it suddenly gone snail-slow or super slow. Every program (especially games) are slow, not responding is frequent, and weird stuff starts to happen, basically the entire PC gotten slow. At first I thought it was a virus, but I did a number of scans and nothing shows up. Then I defragmented my HDD, optimized Windows 7, unistalled a lot of programs etc. but nothing seems to happen. I thought of reformatting the PC but it would take too long to download and install all of my programs. I'm listing down some weird stuff that happened:
- AVG scans suddenly stops at 80% and says no threats.
- Some programs started to open their "Open File" and nags me to open it till I click "Run".
- Strange audio glitches when I play music or play games.
Please someone help me 'cause I don't know anymore possible fixes for this problem. I still think it's a virus though.

Update:
Just recently my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware "Real-Time Protection" was stopped and it doesn't seemed to be fixed. Whatever is causing the slowdown, it targets my anti-viruses.

Depending on how you tried to run memtest, there are different methods. Have you updated your BIOS and other drivers found at your system or board makers website? If using a dvd or flash drive did you change the BIOS to run that drive first? Here is a link to the memtest forums to help you run it by different methods if you are still unable to make it work. http://forum.canardpc.com/forums/73-Memtest86-Official-forum

If something seems to be pointing to your AV then try Kaspersky TDSKiller to check for a rootkit. Your AV and malwarebytes should have both been able to complete unless you have some infection blocking them. After that run memtest86 to check your ram and let us know what you find.
