Problem:

I built the computer back in November and have had no issues whatsoever until a couple days ago. While watching Youtube videos the entire screen turns to a random solid color (pink, teal, grey, black so far) and the audio just repeatedly clips the last sound bite (horror movie style). The system requires a hard restart and then crashes the exact same way within 15 minutes after I reboot. I guess I'd like to know if anyone else has encountered any kind of crashes similar to this. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Side notes:

I do not overclock and I do monitor the temperature (steady around 20 c when crashing occurs). I've re installed my video drivers and flash players and am currently running a disk check (0 errors so far at 50%) and I am going to follow up with a memtest and after that I guess re install windows 7 which is a pain when you only have 1 drive.

Solution
If your memtest passes try reinstalling windows. Before you do that try reseating everything and unplug and replug everything back in and make sure its got a solid connection. If you have spare thermalpaste you should also reseat your CPU.

If that doesn't fix it then my money would be on your motherboard, GPU or PSU being defective.

Thanks for the responses, and I should also note that it runs absolutely fine in safe mode for 24 hours at least (haven't tested anything longer)

I did reseat everything and I'll run the memtest after i get home from work tonight.

While in safe mode i ran a system scan on MSE to see if it was a possible virus. The scan turned up empty but when I restarted my computer I was able to go back into normal mode for about 2 or 3 days before the crashes started again.

after the memtest I'll reinstall windows, thanks for all the help
