Hello,

This morning my laptop charger stopped working for me so I finally decided to try and set up my desktop (that I admittedly have not used in a couple of years) and ran into some trouble. I initially attempted to hook it up to a Samsung monitor, but no picture showed up and the power light blinked red. I then attempted to hook it up to a nearby TV using an HDMI cable but still no picture came up. I am not sure where to start looking as I built the PC years ago. Below is a link to a picture that shows the interior of the system in case that helps. Please let me know any thoughts or if a close up picture of a part is needed, any help would be greatly appreciated. Low-cost solutions would be welcome as I was recently laid off and I am a student.

If your Monitor is not able to get a video signal, then im 95% sure that your videocard is faulty... :(
Do you have a seconsd gpu to hand (or a friend) to try that out?

Hey Buddy!

Can you give us a list of your PC components, please?

CPU:
RAM:
Mainboard:
GPU:
Case:
PSU:
SSD:
HDD:

Are the Fans spinning if you start the PC?

and any additional stuff that i havent mentioned.

First thing you could do is: If your CPU does have an integraded graphics procesor unit(iGPU - Intel Core I Series do have one) you can try hooking your monitor to the HDMI/DVI/VGA output of your motherboard. Maybe the gpu does not work anymore.

It is not integrated. The fans do start when I start the computer. I will do my best to get specific component names. All I know at the moment is that the HDD is a western digital 500 GB, motherboard looks to be an Asus, and graphics is an ati radeon.

if that computer has integrated graphics, remove the videocard and boot up with the integrated graphics. If the computer works, then I'd renintall the videocard, taking care to connect the pci-ex connector from the power supply, and try it with the videocard.

The idea is to rule out a videocard problem.
