Hello,

Context:
Yesterday I was playing some old games on LAN with a few friends and one of the games was Age of Empires (the first one). When I started my PC this morning I noticed that the text font in a lot of places on my PC had changed, so the first thing I did was to use system recovery to restore my PC to a point before the LAN and this fixed the issue. After that I installed Age of Empires again (at this point I had no idea that this program was the culprit) and when I tabbed out from the game to open chrome I saw that the font had changed again. This time however I don't have any system recovery points to roll back to so I'm unsure of how to get the text font back to normal.

What I've Tried:

  • I tried messing with the text fonts in Google Chrome settings but this didn't do anything (the issue affects more than just Chrome as well).
I tried to mess around with the "Window Color and Appearance" settings in Windows but to no avail.
I tried deleting some fonts under Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Fonts which I thought were causing the problem but they either could not be deleted or didn't fix the issue (I've restored the ones I deleted).
Note that all the settings in all these places are the same as they were before the font change. I can't find what's different/new.

Pictures
Some pictures of what the text font now looks like. The text seems to be in italic, which it never was in before in these places. It appears in a variety of programs/places:

Specs
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate N, Service Pack 1. 64-bit.
Any help is appreciated and if you need any more info just let me know, thanks!
