My computer is suffering from very poor download speeds. All other devices in the house seem to be connecting full to the 150mbps/18.75MBps while my computer oddly detects it as 72mbps/9MBps while it downloads at max 2 or 3MBs and 500KB to 1MB on average. I have tried the built in wireless adapter, I purchased a Linksys adapter which seems to be much slower even for the expensive price tag...but since its not built in I suppose that makes sense. I have had someone check the router and everything seems to be connected normally. All drivers have been updated to the latest drivers. I am having download problems on more then one program and browser. I have disabled firewall and anti-virus or one at a time. The computer has also worked "perfectly fine" apparently before it was formatted but I made sure everything was up to date.

I was running on Windows 8, then 8.1 and now 10. All the same

I know the difference between mb and MB

I am using a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wifi adapter with Comcast as my ISP through the Comodo DNS server which I have already changed and tried and nothing changed.

My Ping in online games seems to work perfectly fine.

My computer isnt a powerhouse but its better then my previous computer which was on a much slower network and downloaded at much much higher rates.

Processor: AMD FX 6350 Six-Core Processor 3.90 Ghz
Ram: 10.0 GB
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570
etc.

Its getting to the point of madness and I just hope its something very simple. It would be nice to be able to watch videos and download games on Steam at the same time again without having to pause my download so the video can catch up. Everything else runs fine on this computer as far as I have seen and I have checked many many threads about this and most of them never get solved. Idk maybe I forgot to do something...I am decent with computers but there are some things I have probably forgotten. Anyway...hope someone can help...

Solution
Things that Might help:
-You could restore your settings (but keep your files not the same as factory reset)
- You could play with a Ethernet cable, if your pc doesn't have one you can buy a usb tot ethernet cable ( 20$). If that doesn't give you high speeds if not the problem is not related to your network/isp
- Reset your dns, completely
network > local connection > properties > Internet protocol > properties> change it so it obtains dns server automaticly.
afther open CMD; Clear dns resolver "ipconfig /flush dns" Then "Ipconfig /release" after that "ipconfig/renew".
This fixed an error with open dns a long time ago . I don't know if that's the issue with you.
If that doesn't work, Even though the modem/router seems to be...

If that doesn't work, Even though the modem/router seems to be installed correctly have you tried Reseting it ( Hard reset/reset button) this asked only a small bit of effort.. you probably already tried that.

The are so many things that actually can cause lower speeds. If it's related to the computer software I would recommend a full reset. if nothing else worked. that takes allot of effort and it's annoying. You could wait until someone provides a better answer though. it's up to you.

Solution
When you checked these speeds did you have all the other devices disconnected since they might be hogging bandwidth. http://www.speedtest.net/ use this to test. I have a 7Mbps/0.875MBps download speed connection so i can usually either game or download but never both because one won't have enough bandwidth(the game since download try to take all the bandwidth). After that if the issue persist just run through a Cat6/cat6e Ethernet cable since people usually lose speed using WiFi. I've noticed connection speeds are always better with wired in my own experience. Max my 7Mbps connection gets wireless is 3.5Mbps and people can also sniff my broadcast for my ip/mac adress if i go wireless.

You my friend are a legend. My speed went from 2Mbits a second to 15. (Australian Internet Sucks)

Thanks for the help
