Computer is freezing please help

Whenever I try to play ark on my pc the game freezes after like 2 minutes. I've been able to run this game many times before for hours. My specs are
I5 6600k
Gtx970
16gb
Sometimes I don't have to be in a game for it to freeze. I really need this issue to solve

Is the entire PC freezing up or just the game? The typical initial strategy here is going to be reboot computer, update drivers and operating system, and then check and see what happens.
