Computer is on, but monitor is not connecting with HDMI cable.

Hello,

My first build computer that I made from instructions on PCPartPicker is not connecting to my monitor with an HDMI cable. The computer and monitor both turn on, but won't connect. I suspect it is the graphics card causing the problem, but I am not sure.

Did you connect the monitor to the GPU?? Not to the onboard video ports

If you did, remove the GPU see if the onboard port works

Yes I did connect the monitor to the GPU. That didn't work. The onboard port does not work. Sorry this is my first time so I may not know what some things are.

Did you change the monitor input? Default input for most monitors is the dvi port, it won't automatically switch, you have to physically change inputs to the hdmi.
Also, in pc bios you'll have to make sure PEG/GPU is primary graphics, not iGPU.

The monitor is already accepting HDMI as an input. It scans for it, but it isn't connecting. Also I can't even access the pc bios because the connection isn't working.

A little backstory:
I was in the bios (my computer was working before) and I noticed that one of the memory sticks weren't connected so I was only getting 4GB of RAM. I opened the computer case and adjusted the memory sticks and when I tried to start up the computer it wouldn't work.

Pull out both sticks, put 1 stick in the slot closest to the cpu and try to boot. If that fails, swap sticks. If that fails, move to slot #2 and test again.
If the pc boots with 1 stick either time but not both together, reset bios to factory optimized default settings and try again. If it still boots with either, but not both, add 0.05ish volts to the ram and possibly SA agent.
Chances of both ram sticks dieing at the same time is very, very slim, it's more probably the memory controller in the cpu.
But I'd not worry about the hdmi issue until you settle the ram issue, use the motherboard connection until you get it functioning right. Then worry about the gpu.
