Computer is suddenly slow

So I was just sitting around minding my business watching YouTube, and wanted to play a game. I launched the demo of mount and blade warband and noticed it was loading extremely slow. Previously it ran highest settings 80 fps and suddenly it was at 3 at lowest settings. I am very confused because I changed nothing, I read around and it may be a hard drive problem? I ran optimization and defragmenter the drive. I think this helped a little bit because I started getting 9 fps. (And yes I did try restarting my pc MULTIPLE TIMES) please help
