I started messing around with OC'ing the other day trying to get my FX-6300 to 4.3ghz changing the oc multiplier as well as voltages, my computer now will not stay on for more than 10 minutes (if im lucky) it will either freeze or in windows 8 get the sad face screen. So I looked at my cpu and most of the thermal paste was gone. So I figured it was over heating, now with the thermal paste reapplied it was working for about a day with minimal use. I pretty much just left it on to see if it would freeze. Still froze only 2 times though. Now it is OC'd again at 4.3 and will not stay working for more then 10 minutes. Idk what to do. My thoughts i fried something but I really have no idea. Maybe a little help?

First, check the temperatures of your cpu with a program like realtemp or open hardware monitor, make sure you are not overheating the cpu. Second, are you using the stock cooler or aftermarket one? If you're using the stock cooler, it is not good enough to keep that chip cool, you need to buy an aftermarket cooler. Third, what voltage are you trying to run at 4.3? Those chips are known to get to 4.3 at around 1.4v - 1.45v. If you're voltage is too high it can be overheating, if it too low, it won't be able to hold that speed without freezing.

Ive have tried several different voltages, even was doing it on normal settings. I do have an after market cooler, cooler master hyper 212 evo. I open up the hardware monitor program AXU? came with my mobo i believe but its saying my temps are at 32c -34c with nothing running.

What are the actual voltages you are using?

First: you do need nothing more than A LITTLE cooling paste. It's almost the fewer the better. Second: this is simply a sign that you need to downclock or undervolt your CPU, or buy a better cooler. It's simply getting too hot! And might I mention that long-going experiments with a PC freezing every 10 minutes is not the best way of CPU maintanance? If you'll go on like this it's garbage within 2 weeks.

I understand that on going freezing is not good, but also I have had it 'underclocked' I leave it at default settings. It still freezes, as soon as I oc'd it and it started freezing I changed everything back to normal.
