Computer keeps freezing

I have had this computer for a while now and recentlly I have come accros the issue of the computer freezing. It seems to happen every five or ten mins and is only frozen for a few secconds. I have no idea where to begin with this but for some reason I think it has something to do with the graphics card any ideas?

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM

Check your hdd with SeaTools it works on WDC drives too.

if you can manage to see a BSOD and see an error code F4(at the end of error line) than it most definitely is your HDD.

That's fine doesn't really matter if it's sata or ide.
What you're describing is often a hdd problem.
Run Seatools or open a cmd prompt as admin
type sfc/scannow
press enter
you could have corrupt files,bad sectors,or worse.

Seatools dosent seem to be picking it up so I am trying the sfc/scannow
