Sometimes when I click on my C drive to go inside there is a noticeable lag that may take up to a minute to resolve. Sometimes this also happens if I'm using file explorer and trying to get to my desktop. The problem only seems to happen once after my computer has been booted up for the first time. After clicking on C drive and going through the thinking, the problem doesn't seem to come back until I've restarted my computer. If I had a slow computer I wouldn't think much about it but my PC is pretty good. My only theory is that maybe my hard drive is partitioned weird? What could I check on Windows 11 to confirm this?

Just for the heck of it, try this: Disable Windows Search (start - run - services.msc), reboot, and see if the problem persists. You can always re-enable Windows Search later.

You can also use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to observe what the computer is doing or trying to do when the lags occur.

Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) can prove helpful as well.

Use all three tools but only one tool at a time.

Open the tool window and position the window so it remains viewable.

Allow the system to stabilize.

Click the C: drive and watch for what changes in the tool window.

I tried this. So far no issues. I will keep you updated.
I would expect that you will continue to have no issues. Windows Search is often the cause of the lag you've described. You can download and install Everything (formerly "search everything"): https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/

It is a lightweight, free search utility that will provide instantaneous search results. One of the best (if not THE best) Windows search utilities available. I use it on all of my systems.
