Computer locking up

So I upgraded my computer a few days ago (replaced everything except the hard drive) and I'm finding that my computer freezes from time to time. It won't respond to any keyboard or mouse inputs, the sound stops, and whatever is on the screen stays frozen there. The old drivers are gone as far as I can tell, and I've defragged my hard drive with defraggler. I don't think it's my hard drive as it is only 3 years old (may be closer to 4 years now) and there aren't any other symptoms of hard drive failure cropping up. My current set up is as follows:

GPU: Radeon R9 Fury X

CPU: AMD FX-9590 8 core 4.7Ghz

RAM: 4x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600

HDD: 1TB Western Digital I believe. Not sure on specific model.

MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

OS: Windows 10

Out of the handful of times it's frozen up, all of them have been when I was playing games except for one (froze up once when I was on Facebook). The games it froze up on were Arma 3 and STALKER: Call of Pripyat, I haven't tested any other games. It only froze on Arma once and it hasn't frozen since. It froze on Stalker almost immediately when I first started, then I toned down certain graphics like volumetric lighting and smoke and then it didn't freeze on me until this one event in game where there was a lot of lightning and storms and flashing lights. But I was indoors for that part of the game so it's not like my GPU was freaking out. Some of the settings I toned down specified using DirectX10 or DirectX11 so maybe my new GPU doesn't play nicely with that? Any ideas as to what this could be? Putting this under the Graphics Cards section as that's what I suspect the issue is but I'm not sure what's causing this. Hopefully it's something stupid like drivers (which are up-to-date btw) and won't require something like an RMA...

Update: Tried playing Borderlands 2 and it froze too. Also woke up this morning to my computer being really loud and the air coming through the CPUs radiator was really warm. Monitor was asleep and I couldn't wake it up with keyboard or mouse. Had to do a hard reset. When I did the speaker inside my computer case made a weird series of beeps that it doesn't usually make on startup and the monitor still wouldn't turn on. I forced it off and back on again and then it started normally.
