Computer NIC problem

Hello,my computer's NIC shows green light but it does not connect with other computer over the network

Do you have your network adapter configured to automatically obtain an IP address from the gateway router?

Do you get Internet and just not see the other machines on the network? That would be a sharing and security issue.
