Last week in the storms that hit our area we lost our power. When the power came back on the next day our desktop would not turn on. After trying several things it appeared that the power supply wasn't working so i had an old desktop that we no longer us and swapped out the psu and the computer turned right on no problems. So i assumed that the psu was the problem so i went ahead and ordered a replacement psu from newegg thinking that would solve my problem. Right? Wellllll it came in today i installed it and much to my surprise it wouldn't turn on. So after playing around a bit this is what i found:
The full sized psu (230w) works on both computers(newer and the old junk computer)
The tfx psu(250w) that is assumed was bad somehow powers the old computer.
The replacement tfx (300w) only powers the old one.
So am perdy well stumped here. Is there anything on the motherboard that could go bad and no longer work with a TFX psu?
Thank for the help!
